Behexen - My Soul For His Glory
"My Soul For His Glory" is the new release from Finlands Behexen and the album contains 8 tracks. The cover artwork shows a christian saint worshiped by his followers. But don't expect Behexen to glorify christianity as they are the opposite. And what style should fit this vision? Right, black metal.
Behexen is playing black metal in a wide range. And with this wide range I mean that there is variation in the songs and not the one dimensional spewing hatred with bad sound recordings. Tempo of the songs range from mid to fast and with slow threatening parts. Like track 4 "O.O.O." which is a good example.
Behexen is not breaking the speed limits but finding a well thought way between the tempo changes. Vocals are raw but not shrieking and are a crossing between singing and narrating. The melody of the songs are made by the guitars and they are fast with a thick sound but no leads unfortunately. Multiple layered riffs guided by rapid drumming beats.
In the end you heard a decent black metal album with nice riff melodies and tempo changes.
