Astarium - Winter Growths (Part II)

Astarium is a Russian one man (SIN) creation, who had originally put this blackened musical project together in 2005. Astarium's influence hails from symphonic black metal, neo-classic & dark ambient and it's album "Winter Growths (Part II),brings these styles nicely together creating a symphony of darkly delight.

This 2015 album's opening is purely epic and you hope that it will carry you through such a journey with it's coming tracks and well -it does.

These tracks are as darksome and haunting as their titles are. I especially love the ghostly atmosphere as found in the 3rd track "Aura Of Crystal Night" All is very well thought out here with proper use of soundscapes and other ghastly effects make this album best compared to the musical creations of artists Nox Arcana and their horror fantasy themed recordings. Listening to "Winter Growths (Part II) brought me to a cold place of fog, ice, dark forest night and mystical haunted journeys. Best way to describe this album would be to term it as a very dark fairytale land where one has nice nightmares instead of sweet dreams.

Holding a surreal epicness and haunted atmosphere throughout I would say that this is certainly not a metal album but very much a dark ambient fantasy work which holds minor symphonic black lacing which isn't a bad thing at all for I totally love this work .

With "Winter Growths (Part II)" Astarium has created a musical master piece which any dark music lover should appreciate and truly enjoy. I have nothing to say bad about this work and can very easily bestow upon it 5/5 stars.
