Alter Self - Seven Deadly Blessings

On this occasion, we have the opportunity to talk about this amazing band of Greek origin, from Athens, comes Alter Self, formed by Andrew Geo - Guitars / Vocals, Alex Paris - Guitars, Giannis Marinatos - Bass, and Petros Apostolou - Drums, with a first demo entitled "Ashes Over Eden" (2009) which has received great reviews nationwide. Today we have their first album: "Seven Deadly Blessings", which was recorded in 2011, and re-released last February by Noise Head Records label.

Heartbeats. The beating of your own heart is the only thing you can hear in the room when the storm has passed, and it's the way that this work begins, Thrash-Death Metal perfectly crafted, with a dying and terminal intro, to make way free to anger and aggressiveness of this powerful proposal, in which all musicians work together, and in which all the parts are perfectly assembled.

It should be noted the compositional and instrumental work of Alter Self, the guitars sound to perfection, and it mix the aggressiveness and speed of their riff's with great melodies, the bass work is flawless, with a very well executed arrangements, drums sound thunderous, with amazing cuts and a very opportune rhythm changes, like the voice, which in its guttural depth, is perfectly understandable.

Songs such as 'My Sober Reflection', 'A Nameless Tragedy', 'Flesh Sculpture', to name a few, give a good account of this, until it arrives 'Halcyon', an instrumental piece of very good taste, and the only moment of peace within much powerful sound.

For my liking, a very well done job, and highly recommended for all fans of this mixture of styles, which is becoming stronger because of the quality of the bands that areĀ  playing it, among these bands is Alter Self.
