AEBA - Kodex V
AEBA (Astaroth Eurynome Bael Amduscias) is a black metal from the north of Germany and around since 1992. The band is gathered under the sign of Satan and "Kodex V" is their fifth full length.
Eleven tracks that are performed with a deadly dose of handcrafted ferocity. Tempo of the songs is driven on adrealine but interchanged with breaks to atmospheric mid parts. The use of keyboards is limited and only used to give the mid parts a bit more tension althought the guitars are offering the melody with heavy riffs and sensative and aggressive leads. And when you talk about black metal the vocals have to be raw, raspy, grim and cold.
As the band is referring to Satan a lot it isn't strange that the disc is a bit hypnotic. I mean when you listen closely and let the music penetrate your mind you will flow on the riffs and leads and get indoctrinated by the hacking drums and narrated sung lyrics. Very nice album.
