Necrogilistic Anomaly - Proverbs Of Profane Intent

Necrogilistic Anomaly’s “Proverbs Of Profane Intent” may only consist of 5 tracks, but it sure hits like a full-length release. While the band could be comparable to well-known bands such as Internal Bleeding, Dying Fetus, Incantation, Entombed, and Aborted, they have created a concoction of aural atrocity that is second to none with this EP. Even before you put this CD in your stereo, the song titles are sure to grab your attention. Sure, there are bands out there who have a long and respectable resume of song titles, but you got to think and ask yourself if it’s because they draw interest because they make you think, or if the given band is relying on this particular genre’s fascination and addiction to shock value. For example, let’s take track number 2, “The Glitch in Salvation”. There have been so many blasphemous songs about salvation or the lack thereof, and most of them say the same thing, over and over again. This song here presents you with what the “glitch” is and the reality of the whole concept of salvation as a whole because of the said glitch. Lyrically Necrogilistic Anomaly makes you think. Now, I will say that not every song is like this, but they come from a different direction with their song writing. It’s still some of the most brutal death metal out there they just don’t follow the norm or the given caste of this genre. As far as the music goes, it is sharp and pin-point accurate with its buzzsaw riffage. Imagine “Left Hand Path” Era Entombed playing the brutal death metal of today. A strange comparison to be sure, but the distortion of the guitar is comparable to such death metal awesomeness.

There are some technical elements incorporated into the presentation which gives them that much more of their own sound. Each chord digs deep into your sanity, infecting your cortex with mass amounts of brutal death metal glory. Humberto Rodriguez is responsible for the riffage and the pride of such a task is apparent in each of these 5 tracks. Lance Taylor is on bass, and his skill adds a nice thickening pulse that compliments the guitars nicely and adds a fuller sound overall. There is a perfect balance here. It’s not in the forefront but not totally in the back either. Great job here. Adam Rubio’s work on the drums is a total mastery of all things chaotic. Simplistic and technical in the EP’s respective parts. It would be my guess that, with his skill, he could handle any task that the band put before him. You can tell by his work here that he is a versatile player. Totally complimentary to the other aspects of the music. Lastly, we have Cesar Garcia on vocals, and he does a fine job, however, I will say that I wish that there was a little more variation. With the music being what it is here, I can’t help but wonder how things would have sounded with a little more wiggle room in the vocal department. Still though, everything sounds great here. If you want something still within the spectrum of brutal death metal, but a break from the norm, then I highly recommend this band and EP.Contack the band or Comatose Music for more information on adding this release to your collection.
