The band was formed in St.Petersburg in 1994 and recorded their debut album in 1995. This album was released on cassettes (who know this anymore?) by the band itself. And for the 10th anniversary the Russian label Solitude Prod. is re-releasing it with video footage as a bonus. Painful Memories plays slow and depressive doom metal. Sorrowful atmosphere in solid played tunes. No keyboards or fancy instruments but grunting growls and steady guitars make this a traditional doom album. Not groundbreaking but a heritage of the Russian doom scene.
