Nifelheim (a realm of coldness, ice and mist) hails from Sweden and they praise the Lord since 1990. With "Envoy Of Lucifer" they released their latest rite in 12 unholy spells. Nifelheim plays some old school speed black metal like a mixture of Venom, Sodom and Bathory but you also hear Iron Maiden influences. And the track "Belial's Prey" is just a melody line from Hellhammer. The band was started by the twins Hellbutcher (vocals) and Tyrant (bass) and on this album they have the new drummer Insulter Of Jesus Christ! What a stupid name and when you see his picture he looks like Ron Jeremy, haha. Well, maybe he is it as he keeps pounding the skins, haha.
The music of "Envoy Of Lucifer" was recorded analogue to give it a true feeling. Apart from that the songs go on the fast trip with little breaks down but most of the time it is fast. Vocals are sounding tormented and the drums sound a bit simplistic. But the guitars are shredding on the riffs (lot of repetives) and flying leads.
The music is raw and verocious and suitable for fans of blackened speed metal.
