Nefastus Dies - Urban Cancer Canada is the land of glory for Nefastus Dies. Founded in 2002 and released their first CD in 2006 on the small label Deepsend. But the band is signed by Candlelight and re-releasing their debut album again. So here is "Urban Cancer" with 7 tracks in a mixture of black and death metal. The songs are blasting with the bass drum as an outbreak of a terrible disease. Count with that the sickening low shouted vocals and you have your personal cancer. As the tempo is mostly high there are breaks to slower down for the groove. Guitars are shredding fast riffs that sometimes are just insane and with various melodies and also squeezing out the leads. Oh yeah and you hear little keyboards. After listening the album couple of times my conclusion is that it is hard and extreme but the two things I would like to changed are the vocals and the blast beats. It is sometimes a little too much of both as they take a premier role and after a while you know the drummer has ADHD feet and the vocalist has 4 simultaneous chemo therapies and the atmospheric outro doesn't change my opinion.
