Thiago Nogueira, the brazilian drummer

In Brazil great instrumentalists exist inside the Metal, people that really get our attention. But, among these people of the middle Metal somebody that stands out much more than all the other ones exists, it is treated of Thiago Nogueira one of the largest and better drummers of Brazil, besides a great producing of CD's. I had the opportunity of a to talk little with Thiago, this excellent professional. Check this exclusive interview!

Thiago, before beginning to play battery you took piano classes among the six eight years. How was your first contact with the instrument mentioned previously?
Well, my grandmother was piano teacher and she had a cousin that she also taught. Then, one day, in that aunt's house, I sat down in the piano and I began to play. She asked if I wanted to learn and I said that yes. Since then I was 3 years studying classic piano.

It was soon after the eight years that you came to have your first contact with the battery. What did you take you to choose for the battery how your work instrument instead of other instruments?
The contact with the piano was a very interesting experience, mainly because it developed my interest for the percussion. My teacher noticed that and she indicated me a battery teacher. From the first class that I already knew that that instrument would accompany I for the rest of the life..........

To the fifteen years of age you were already a professional of the area. Did you play in bands as Scrupulous (Death Metal). Was it there that you had your first contact with the Metal? Didn't leave, when did you really have contact with the Metal?
Well, I began to hear metal with about 14 years, through a friend, that knew some guys that wanted to set up a band for playing that sound type. I agreed to in the hour, but, the band (scrupulous) only left one year later.

Thiago, to the nineteen years you entered in the Farol Blues Band, it substituted the drummer of the band due to an accident with him. In the same day of a show of the Farol Blues Band you had to absorb a repertoire of four hours in only two hours. Tell us more on this show and east fact...
That was an interesting experience. The bassoonist of the Scrupulous at that time was Allan. He also played with the light and i knew that I played as professional with some five bands. Certain day he ties me and speech: “Thiago, our drummer went to tie the motorcycle and twisted the foot. We have a show today and wanted to know if you could play with us.”
I said that yes and I ran for there. When I arrived, they soon showed me the repertoire. They had some 45 music and we only had 2 hours for rehearsing. We just passed the ones that never had ear and we went to play. We made a show of 4 hours and who less it wandered went me. The faces until today speak about that.

In your passage for the band Farol Blues Band, there was a European tour. Was the your first time in Europe? And how did it go this experience to you Thiago?
Yes, it was the first time and one of the best things that already did was. To leave Brazil and to present our sound for a public with different culture that doesn't know work is very exciting.

During the shows for Europe, which was her public's reaction in seeing you playing? And was there some curious fact with the band in this tour?
The reaction was always the possible best. Whenever we played, be in Europe or in Xique Xique the public's reaction was wonderful. The curious fact is that I developed the taste so much for the cookery, to the point of to study serious the subject. Today as much better because i cook very well... hahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Among several works, now you are working with Simone Sampaio. Are you satisfied with work beside her? Are their expectations being corresponded?
Yes, and a lot. I produced cd (that is selling very well) and I am the musical director of the show. We have been making an average from 8 to 12 shows a month.

The style done by Simone Sampaio is very different from the Metal and other styles that you already did. Initially it was complicated for you to get used to with this music style?
Not of the technical point of view. Difficulty doesn't exist in playing that sound style. My difficulty was only of adapting, since didn't know the language and almost any music of the repertoire.

You were already one of the members of the band Headhunter DC one of the exponents of the national Metal for a good time. Which would the reasons of your exit of the band have been?
I left the band because the other works took me almost the whole time. They closed the shows and hardly ever gave for me to do, because I already had commitments assumed with other bands in those dates. Then one day, I gathered the band and I asked for them to seek somebody to play for them, because, I didn't want in way any you disturb them and i would like to see them making many shows.

A subject that many don't understand exists. It is the subject of unhappily in Brazil is not gotten to live only of Metal, it is very complicated this subject. Few people have this vision, just those that live that is that has notion of everything that happens. Do you agree?
I believe that other people that don't live that also know about the difficulty. I for instance have a professional structure that accompanies me and that it is expensive of maintaining (equipments, roadie, manager). If I don't win enough money for to maintain that structure, my family and to live calmly, I prefer to change of profession.

Many at that time in that you left Headhunter DC said that you were a traitor of the Metal. How did you face everything this?
Naturally. It is very easy to speak when you don't know. Until the own faces of Headhunter they gave me the largest force when I left. They saw my difficulty closely. So much is, that I am a great friend of all to today, and for who doesn't know have been producing all of the recordings that they did from the And The Sky...

Thiago, if you had the chance of you to return in the time would change something? Or would you make the same thing?
I would make everything exactly in the same way. All of the experiences that I lived, the friends that I conquered and the people to who brought happiness with my work, are things that the money doesn't pay.

Changing some subject again, you now meet working with the band Ungodly. How was it that you joined to the band? How did the contacts appear between you and the ungodly?
In March of 04, Daniel Oliveira tied me, speaking that the band (Ungodly) it was about to enter in studio and it would like me to produce this work. Then of that work the then drummer Alex Rocha, left for personal reasons. Daniel tied me again for inviting me to assume the drumsticks in a show beside it Tortures him Squad. The show was devastating. Therefore after, we met and he and Arnald Asmoodeeus called me for doing part of the band.

Besides you to be the drummer of the band, you are also taking care of the recordings of the new album of Ungodly. How is this whole recording process being?
In a quite calm way and possible professional. That was one of the inside few times that I saw working me of the ideal conditions of work. I have in hands the equipments that I need, the band and the technician that I chose.

The one what can you talk about the new album? Will he really be an impact disk? What the fans of the style and of the band they can wait?
Without doubts that disk will give a lot what to speak............................ they await.

Well, I contain ours glimpsed for here. It is always an immense satisfaction to speak with this excellent producer, drummer and a great person called Thiago Nogueira. Please express their words for all of the readers of our interview...
Without doubts, the road that me and many other people chose, it is very difficult of being trodden. But, everything that is very difficult is very compensatory in the end. It is enough not to give up their goals. “The one THAT IMPORTS IS NOT THE END AND YES THE ROAD THAT You TRAVELED to ARRIVE THERE.” I want to want good luck and a great hug to all, I hope you accompany my work for a long time.
