Remasculate and their male groupies

interview with Micke, July 2008

Please give us a short introduction of yourself before exposing your mental state?
Micke Stromberg, guitar, middle age crisis written all over me.

Because you are not the only one in the band please say something interesting about your fellow inmates.
Marcus also play the drums in INSISION and Ludvig sang on DEMONICAL's debutalbum. I don't know if that's interesting, but that`s how it is. Otherwise it's just the same as everyone else. Work, sleep, eat, shit, you know.

So how is life in Sweden at the moment? Any excitement about Euro 2008 football despise their home sending?
I don't really know anything about that. Music is my thing, not sports.

Do you follow it or are you having interest in other kind of sports? Or maybe not at all?
As I said, not my cup of tea.

Ofcourse you live for the band but unfortunately it doesn't pay the bills. So do you have a job, study or something to save the day?
I've got an exciting job as a serviceguy fixing coffeemashines. Marcus and Johan, bass, also work. Ludvig study.

You released in January the new album ’Perversemonger’. How do you look back to the album? Still Satisfied?
We recorded it in may 2007 so we got tired of it long before it was released. I think it's good material, but the production could be better.

Would you record differently when having a major budget? What is the biggest problem when recording?
If we ever get a major budget we would definitly record in a professional studio. There are some good studios and produsers here in sweden. There's really no problems when recording. Everything usually goes smoothly, from writing and making songs to recording.

The reviews are overwelming positive but what is the progression towards ’Blend In And Juice Them’?
It’s hard for me to say, but I guess the songs are a little more complex and we didn't rush things as much this time. We're tighter as a band, especially live.

Do you also read the negative reviews to learn something? Did you gave a free copy to your grandparents?
Ofcourse we read the negative reviews, even if they're hard to find, haha. We'll just have to try harder next time to show the bastards. Ludvig gave his grandmother a copy and she listened to it and said. ’So you sing, you say, when do actually start singing?’

Is there a story behind ’Perversemonger’? In other words is there a kind of concept? If not where do you get lyrical inspiration from?
A versemonger is a person who is good in writing lyrics and rhymes. So i guess a perversemonger is a person who is good in writing sick and twisted lyrics and rhymes. We made the booklet as a notebook so it would look like the perversemongers personal notebook. Not really a concept, maybe... I've written most of the lyrics but I don't know where the inspiration come from. I just pops up in my messed up little brain.

But songtitles like ’Silver fish and chips’, ’Toilet paper cut’ or ’Chewing gums’ are not pointing at seriousness. Do they?
Our thing is to make people laugh. So in my opinion they're serious. And the music is definitly serious, and that's the main reason people listen to this kind of music, I think. I mean, do people ask CANNIBAL CORPSE if songtitles like ’Addicted to vaginal skin’, or IMPALED NAZARENE if ’Motorpenis’ are pointing to seriousness?

What do you wanna say to people who take life too serious?
Listen to REMASCULATE and and laugh your ass off!

Can you describe your sence of humor? What makes you laugh with tears?
British humor like BOTTOM. Sick and violent stuff.

In April you supported Anal Cunt in Gothenburg. How was that? Any juicy details of the after party?
Seth Putnam is not really a party animal. I think he got a black eye from someone. He had some russian musicians with him, ANAL NOSEROG I think their name was. One of them had a black eye too. There were nazi's and other fucked up people there in the crowd. The atmosphere wasn't that pleasant. But we survived.

This support was in April but your calender is empty till September. Why are you not playing live that much? Is it hard to get gigs offered?
We got some upcoming gigs this fall, but right now we're busy rehearsing new material for a split-CD with the legendary thrash/death-giants FACE DOWN. It's planned to be released in September. (Spread the word!) We also did a live recording for one of the largest TV-channels here in sweden (Channel 5) that's going to be broadcast this fall. A ’cover’ on an old swedish popsong. Grincore-style, ofcourse. Check out YouTube later this year. And yes, it is quite hard to get gigs offered here in Sweden. To many great bands, you know.

What is the role of your label in the whole promotion? Do they arrange inties and gigs?
Not too many, I'm afraid. But we're satisfied the way it is.

What are your conditions when playing live in a club? Lots of beer? Kaviar? Girls?
Haha. Honestly, the conditions are horrible. Beer, food, a place to crash, money for gas. If we're lucky.

Does Remasculate have groupies?
There's always some drunk ones that wants to say nice stuff after the show. But they're mostly guys.

Your contact email is at @christismybitch.com. What is your connection with the Tees company?
No connection at all.

Is there anything left to say to the readers?
No, nothing that comes to mind.

Last rites?
As the almighty BLODD DUSTER once said in an interview with Terrorizer magazine; "If you think the interview was boring and you haven't got enough, you can make shit up about us":
