Please give us a short introduction of yourself?
My name is David Siskin and I play guitar and do high vocals for Odious Mortem.

So what the hell is Odious Mortem about?
Odious Mortem is all about having fun and experimenting with a diversity of ideas. We like to write shit that’s wierd sounding but not too off the wall to where it begins to sound like were just trying to write wierd shit for the sake of doing so. We all listen to many different genres of music and we see death metal as a median where we can experiment with and incorporate a vast pallette of influences and styles.

Why are you in the metal scene?
I don’t know. For us, the music is very satisfying to play and listen to. We have fun doing it, and people seem to have fun listening to us and coming out to our shows. It’s a good fucking time if you know what I mean.

Do you need to be a musician to play brutal death metal?
I don’t know, it depends on what your definition of a musician is. If a
musician is one who plays music, well obviously the answer would be yes.

Do you have musical education? DIY? And how many times a week do you practice?
I’ve taken some music theory classes but for the most part, I’ve taught myself how to play and learned from other people I’ve jammed with. I never took a guitar lesson, just bought a shitty Fender, learned how to play power chords and started figuring out punk songs. Then I moved into metal years down the line. I’ve probably been playing guitar for about 9 years but have been playing death metal for around 7. I try to practice everyday a few times but sometimes I don’t get to. My main musical education comes from listening to music and thinking about what the fuck they’re doing on their instruments.

Where do you get inspiration from for the lyrics? Do you eat forbidden mushrooms?
hahaha... Uh, between us as a band, we’ve probably taken enough
psychadelic drugs to power the Burning Man Festival for a day or two but, we’ve slowed down on that as the years have rolled along. We get some lyrical ideas from old drugged out psychadelic jargon but most of our lyrics deal with conditions that we observe in the world around us. A lot of the themes we deal with involve atheism, greed, fear, suffering, possibility, social situations, annhialation, human consciousness, and the collapse of our contemporary “civilization.” We aren’t a political band and we don’t aim to make our lyrics fascist or directly reflective of a single position. We just try to paint a picture of reality as we see it. I guess songs like Nothing Beyond the Rot and Cerebral Disection do reflect certain outlooks a little too blatantly, but were trying to steer away from that sort of a framework with future lyrics.

What is your daily consumption amount of alcohol and dope?
Personally, I smoke as much weed as I can each day. I drink alcohol at least once a week too. As for the other mates, I’m not at liberty to say.

Isn't it stupid to spend all your royalties to alcohol and dope?
Royalties...hahahahhaah uh, NO!

Would you join Metallica if they ask you? Why?
No, I wouldn’t have any fun being in Metallica now. Not even for the $bling$.

Your opinion about MP3 downloading?
It’s the shit. Everyone should do it. Fuck the bands, music should be free. So should computers and the internet for that matter.

Do you use the internet a lot? For what reason?
Research, downloading, entertainment, music...

Do you have an alphabetical list of all your fans? Who is the most remarkable one?
An alphabetical list? What the fuck are you talking about. Were not Motley Crue or Poison. We apreciate all our fans very, very much. No one Odious listener is better than the other.

Will you pay for a logotattoo on that guys back?
What guy, pay? I don’t got any money. no...

Do you play your own music in your car? What kind of car do you drive and how does it look like?
No, I try not to listen to our shit except for when we play it. I drive the most enflamed vehicle on the road; a VW Beatle. That’s right, it’s really fuckin cute. It sucks ass but, its up for sale if anyone wants to buy it.

Are you following the president elections? What would you change if you were voted?
BURN THE BUSH!!!!!!!! May his face be melted off with the napalm of reason. I hope he gets fuckin capped but unfortunately, he wont. He’s such a pile of shit, I fucking hate him. US democracy is nothing but a hierarchical lie filled with scams, illusions, and grand spectacles. Voting is bullshit, its all pre-planned out everytime. Whoever you vote for, government wins, and this is a fucked up government that we have here in America. Like everything else, its all about the $bling$. As long as money is the basis of power, shits gonna be fucked.

What is the benefit of being a republic instead of monarchy?
I don’t know if there is a difference in the United States. We call our
republic democratic, but it’s no more than a fascist dictatorship in disguise.

Why are Americans so patriotic? The USA has no history because the nation was build by immegrants form Europe!
Because they are fucking idiots. TV and media are the poison that fuel the flames. Shit is all fucked up and probably always will be. The only reason the US has so much money today is because of all the immegrants and slaves we exploited in the past. Our mindless, decadent, fucked up history of slavery is the platform that has allowed our powerfull framework to perpetuate and dominate.

Any evidence of Dutch immegrants in your area?
Yes, I love the Dutch.

How does the future look like for you?
It looks like a big asshole that makes lots of noise! Odious is writing a lot of really good shit right now, its gonna fuckin blow our old shit away for sure so get ready fuckers. Hopefully we’ll record a new album by February.
