Doomstone and the destroying mirrors
Doomstone from Trier (Germany’s oldest town) was founded by Andreas Lütticken in the year 1994 and was first only 3 people . After several Line-up changes the Band has had a constant Line-up, which in the year of 2000 (in Zeltingen at Prophecy Production under the direction of Markus Stock - Empyrium -) recorded the 1st Album Obsidian. The basis Style is Death-Thrash Metal, but the Band try to enrich it by various stylistic elements( like progressive and melodic). The aim is to be original and independent from other styles. Doomstone has end searching for a label that will support them in the future, cause in Apr. of 2002 doomstone is signed by SOD Rec. (www.sod-rec.de).
In Oct. 2002 Doomstone recorded in 2 weeks their 2nd Album “ Disharmonic “ in the Soundlodge Studio of Jörg Uken (Obscenity, Mephistopheles...) to create their new Death Tharsh Metal Album, the mastering was done in the Morrisound Studio (Tampa).
The release of the new Album is April 2003 under Sod Rec.
The band is already looking for livegigs to promote the new Album.

Please give us a short introduction of yourself?
The Band was formed in 1994 through our guitarist Andreas Lütticken and first they play some kind of Power Metal and Thrash Metal and they covered Sodom and Running wild. After several Line up changes Metty and Heiko came to the band and the style changes in harder levels and in 1999 I ’ll came to Doomstone and we’ve recorded our first record “Obsidian”, at Prophecy Production (Empyrium, Sleepless Beauty...) with Markus Stock. We had get great critics in the Underground and we’ve presented us very often on stage and after a gig with Crack up Thorsten of SOD Rec speaked with us and after several months, we signed the contract. In Oct. 2002 we’ve recorded Disharmonic in the Soundlodge Studio from Jörg Uken. And now we are here.
Tell also some naughty about the other bandmembers?
Oh I think for a Death Metal Band we are not naughty enough, Heiko studies History in Bamberg and he likes eating worms and Frogs, Metty works in freiburg and his hobby is looking animal pornos, Lütte goes to school and he always licks his guitar every night and I study electronic engineering and I collect mirrows to destroy them .
What is the defenition of Doomstone in a dictionairy?
I don’t know, we didn’t choose the name, because of his definition. The Bandname was found in 1995, when Lütte (git) was sitting on a stone in our hometown Trier. This stone is in front of a church, he is called Dumstaan (special spoken in our language ). Lütte was very drunken and was sitting with Andre (bass in 1995 ) there, they discuss about a bandname like: “Lets call us Dumstaan“ , “No, no, it must sound international, like Dum... ähh, Doom , mmh... Doomstan, aaaaa DOOMSTONE, that’s great!” and so the bandname was born.
What makes a metalsong to you? What should be in it?
I think a metalsong needs aggressive, hard guitarlines and aggressive drumrhythm it must go straight ahead and direcly in your face, that’s the most important elements. That was metal, that is metal and that will be metal.
How does the band start making songs? Writing notes on paper? Just by hearing a riff?
Andreas and Heiko are the main songwriter, but we decide together, which part we take and which part is waste. Mostly they came with an idea and then everybody gives his opinion and ideas, that we create together the whole album.
Why don't you play instrumental songs? Spending much time on the lyrics?
There was no idea about writing an instrumental song, til now we always thought about singing structures. I always spend much time on my lyrics, I have a spontaneous idea and then I write the lines over the song. Most of all time the songs are ready and then I write my lyrics.
Do you read books? What are your fav and why?
At the moment I read Hamm “Structure of the new Society”, my most fav is Ken Folletts The Pillars of the Earth, ’cause this book becomes so real when you read, always great.
Do you have interest in other media like newspaper, TV, radio or internet?
Sure, you have to use every medial possibilty to get information and stand independent in your life.
Where do you use it for?
I use it every day to get my picture of the world, I don’t wanna be a SLEEPWALKER and nobody can lead me.
Does your grandparents understand the internet hype? Having interest although?
They see that is very helpful and important for us, but they have no interest about it.
Do you remember why your picked up an instrument? What or who made you do it?
I’m the voice at DOOMSTONE, but I also play just a little bit guitar for my own and I think Doomstone gave me the kick off, so I can understand song structures etc. it is very helpful for me.
How did your first musicclasses go? Practiced a lot at home or going DIY after a while?
At the first time I had no interest about music, and after some years when I grow up, I always left the music lesson and we go in the park and drink a lot of beer, hehe. After leaving school my interest became bigger and so I had to learn it for my own at home.
Is there some instrument you would like to use in your songs although they are not metal related?
It always could be, but at the moment I don’t think that we will use it in the future.
Why don't German TV not use subtitles?
I don’t know, only some channels uses it for special films for the people, who can’t hear. I think in our society there is no place and time to make things for people, who can’t hear or understand it.
What kind of movies do you like? You often go to the cinema? Rent VHS or DVD? Or buying some yourself?
I like every style of movies, like fun (old Bud Spencer movies, yeah) or horror (Day of the dead...) or Thriller (Lost Highway ...) and I often go to the cinema, but I don’t buy many films, just 3 or 4 films.
Do you prefer to records material or playing live? Think you need both to reach an audience?
Both, I’d like to see growing the material in the studio, but I also like and the energy in the crowd when we are playing live. To perform on stage is always feeling, which you can’t describe, it puts you in fuicking ecstasy.
What was the worst live band you ever saw and why?
I’ve seen so many, but one is callled Mysterium or something, they were on tour together with Marduk and they had a fucking sound like pfffffffffffffffff, but they feel like kings, they could not play any chord and spit every 2 min in the crowd. People pay to get entertainment, not to see how they can spit.
When playing a festival you watch the other bands? Do you prefer festivals or local gigs?
I prefer festivals. There are often great bands and so we can look on their fingers to learn some tricks amd to get more contact with foreign bands.
What kind of transportation do you use to go there? What would be in your dream touringbus?
We always uses our own cars, but my dream touringbus would a big one only for me, so I must not smell the socks and underwear from Lütte J and their must be a big freezer for beer and fine, fine wine .
People should try to laugh every day, so do you know a dirty joke?
One day, a little boy wrote to Santa Clause, ’Please send me a sister.’ Santa Clause wrote him back, ’Ok, send me your mother.’
Try to describe the last records you buy so people want to buy it? Where can they obtain it?
There are two new records, which you have to buy, first the new Nevermore, holy shit, what are they doing? Complex songstructures and very great guitarwork and all above the voice.
