Devotion and friendship for Perversity

The band was founded in October 1995 by Martin Marincak (vocals) and Jozef Kosc (guitar). The first demo “The Embarrassed” was recorded in July 1997. It contains 6 brutal death metal songs. It was recorded by Martin (vocals), Jozef (guitar), Henrich Koval (bass) and Dano Doros (drums). This line-up existed from June ’96 to May ’98. The demo helped the band to make contact with the underground as well as to play more concerts.

The second demo “Personal” was recorded in July 1999. It contains 27 minutes of death metal music. It was recorded by this line-up: Martin (vocals), Jozef (guitar), Dano (drums), Erich Gotz (bass) and Erik Mihelic (guitar). This team lived from January ’99 to May ’00. Some songs were used on compilations and the band gained stronger name in UG.

The new line-up was formed in January 2001. Marek Stasak (drums) and Dano Kochanik (guitar) joined duo Martin and Jozef. In May ’01 the band was completed by the bassist Martin Kukol. This is the strongest line-up in the history of the band. Finally friendship and devotion to death metal of all members started the right direction of Perversity. New material was recorded in January 2002 and offers 8 new songs of death metal purity and 1 song “Disillusioned” (re-recorded) from the first demo. At present CD “In The Garment Of Lust” is out for you with the artwork made by the cool Deather!!!

The album release under the new French label PERENNIAL QUEST RECORDS.

Please give us a short introduction of yourself?
We are death metal band PERVERSITY from Slovakia. We were formed in October 1995. We have 2 demos (“The Embarrassed” 1995 and “Personal” 1997. In January 2003 our debut CD “In The Garment Of Lust” is released for a French label Perennial Quest Records.

How perverse are you? Where do you draw the line?
We are perverse only in a healthy way. We are natural. But some people have no limit to deviance. You can meet our guitarist Dano.

What was the main reason to start the band? Think you could do it better than the other bands?
I and the vocalist Martin formed the band and have been there till now. At the age of 17 we were completely obsessed metal fans. he he. We wanted to play death metal! We needed it. We love this style!

What were your fav bands in 1995? Listen to them still these days?
We still listen to them. They are our favourite bands. We listened to everything. At the beginning we played something like mix of AUTOPSY, UNLEASHED and grind core. The best album of all times was made in 1995 - “Pierced From Within”!!! SUFFOCATION are always our idols!

Your opinion on the bands that do reunion shows? Think it add something to the scene today?
I like comebacks of GRAVE, UNLEASHED. My heart is rejoicing at it.

Perversity is around from 1995. What keeps you going on? What is the goal for the band?
We had some problems and personal changes but we didn’t want to give up. We felt like making music and spreading the name of PERVERSITY. Due to people who shafted me I gained energy to go on. I wanted to show them that they are unnecessary and we went on working. We have fulfilled this goal. But our main goal is to be satisfied with our music.

Of all what you reached today, what are you most proud of? And why?
We are pleased with our new CD! YEAH!

Do you like the promotional side of the band? Do you like giving interviews? Doing photoshoots?
We like to inform people about our band. So far we have made interviews for Slovak, Czech, Polish and Hungarian zines. Now we are moving to the west UG. It’s super! I’m only worried about my English. But my girlfriend helps me a lot. She is my best support!!!

What was the stupidest question they ask you once?
I answer all questions. This one looks like it.

What do you think when people ask the same questions everything? Tired of giving the same answers?
I’m not tired of it. I can ramble. hi hi

Do you have a fav metal magazine? Do you buy mags? Do you collect flyers, newsletters etc?
I like mainly zines. Of course, Slovak and Czech ones. The best are Spark magazine and Indeedhell zine. I have read thousands of flyers. I think I have a good grasp of UG here.

How active are you in the metal scene? How strong and big is the scene in your area?
We organize concerts in our town. We also make exchange concerts. In Slovakia there are lots of super bands - ERYTROSY, PATHOLOGY STENCH, CONTEMPT, DEMENTOR, LUNATIC GODS, SANATORIUM, WAYD, NOMENMORTIS, THALARION, DEPRESY, OBLITERATE, PHANTASMA, CARESS, TYPHOID........ The worse situation is with zines. Many of them have disappeared. We have 2-3 labels looking after our scene. Everything is breathing here but sometimes there is not enough money.

What do you say to people when they think you can live of death metal music?
I wish it to all bands. Many of them deserve it.

So what jobs do you all have? Easy to spend the time to the band? Do the girls agree with your hobby?
3 of us work and 2 study at universities. We practise 3 times a week. We can organize it well. Our girlfriends are OK.

Do you name your children after your grandparents or come up with some serial killer name?
I will agree on it with my girlfriend. I am thinking about becoming independent and having a family. Time will show...

Why took it so long to record the debut? Looking for the right members, label?
I think that after 7 years of our existence it’s a good timing. In the past we were slowed down by personal problems. The new line-up has been working since January 2001. We are good friends and we communicate very well.

How did you get in touch with Perennal Quest from France?
We sent our promo and got the offer to cooperate.

What is so important about having a label?
Without the label the door to the world UG wouldn’t open to us.

Do you have any other hobbies beside music? Do you collect something?
As every man-football, beer, sex and metal!!!

Feel the urge to add something that is important to know about you or the band?
I think it was an interesting interview. I just want to say that we have certain plans for future and we want to work and improve.
