Dehiscence might beat people up
Dehiscence was started in August of 2003, in Greenville, SC. The solo member of Dehiscence is Kristina, a brutal death metal chick that wants to contribute to the death scene and add some of her own brutality to it. She continues to write new material and to program tracks in the drum machine. Two songs have been written so far: ’Sulfuric Acid Enema’ and ’Fear and Defilement. She is currently working on creating new material which will include “Ripping Flesh” and “Mound of the Faceless Disfigured”. Kristina will begin playing shows some time in the summer of 2004, probably around the Greenville-Spartanburg area but hopes to venture elsewhere as well. She recorded her two-track demo “Vomitous Emissions” on January 2, 2004. She hopes to spread her brutal music all around the world. Brent (from Bowel Erosion and Putrilage) was added as a drummer to Dehiscence so except some sheer fucking brutality to be coming out some time late 2004!!

Please give us a short introduction of yourself?
Im Kristina from Dehiscence. I love brutal death. Heh, I think that’s short enough.
What moves you into the brutal DM scene? What attracts you?
let’s see... I love the grinding guitars and some slam grooves that you can’t help to start headbanging to, the sickening blasts of the double bass, and some revolting piggie squeals on top of all that with some low gutturals thrown into the mix... I dig sickness, pure and simple brutality. I also dig the scene because its impenetrable by the brainless fucks of the pop culture world...
Being a one girl band and being brutal, what are the prejudices towards you? How do you deal with it?
I really haven’t had any prejudices so far, not any that I know about. Mostly, however, people are shocked that a girl listens to death metal and they are even more shocked to find out that I’m doing all of the music they hear, including the vocals. But I guess if people are going to be dicks towards me cause I’m a girl I’ll say fuck em
Brutal music is mostly male dominated. Why so few women active in bands?
I’m not really even sure to tell you the truth... they’re prolly too busy listening to bullshit music, like Britney Spears and all of those other fag pop icons to even listen to something good for a change... that’s my best guess..
Of what band are you fan yourself?
man, there are tons of fucking bands I love... I guess some of my favorites as of now would be Mutilated, Stabwound, Corpsefucking Art, Pustulated, Vomit Remnants, Deviant, Guttural Secrete, Dyscrasia, Circle of Dead Children, Abysmal Torment, Bowel Erosion...just to name a few
Do you have plans to seek members? Or afraid being limited in your creativity?
Actually, I just asked a guy named Brent (from Bowel Erosion and Putrilage) to take over drumming for Dehiscence. So, now Dehiscence will be a two man band instead of just me. I’m not sure if I will play shows as a two man band or a one man... we’ll have to see how things turn out. But I think adding a real drummer will be a good thing for Dehiscence, it will give the music a much more brutal feel because the drums will sound fucking sweet instead of my crappy efforts to program a drum machine...
Are you also creative in other things such as painting, modeling, cooking or poetry?
heh, well... I don’t know about modeling and cooking. I think you have to be concerned with looking pretty for modeling and personally, I don’t give a fuck how I look.. hehe. And I cant cook anything without burning it to shit unless it involves a microwave. I like painting and writing poetry and short stories and shit, mostly sick shit involving bodies rotting and people being slaughtered...
According your last name you are from Poland. Ever been there looking for your roots?
heh, interesting question. Nahh, I’ve never gotten out of the US, as of yet. Actually, my dad and grandma are from Germany so most of my roots are there but since im poor as shit, ive never been anywhere cool like Europe... maybe one day...
Do you know something of Polish history? Any interest in global history?
im not too familiar with Polish history... never really looked much into it. Im pretty interested in WWII history shit and whatnot. My grandma was living over in Germany at the time of the Holocaust so I find that shit kinda hits close to home. All that shit is pretty fucked up and I find it pretty interesting, especially the shit about torture, heh.
For what can we wake you in the middle of the night?
heh, if you wake me in the middle of the night I’d prolly punch you in the face and ask you “what the fuck are you doing in my house??”
Any plans on recording new material? What progress will you make?
Yeah, actually, im looking to record some shit when me and Brent get the drums worked out for the new songs. I think the new shit is gonna be heaps fucking better because 1) it will have drums that are done by a REAL drummer that knows what the fuck he is doing; and 2) the guitars are going to be more technical, with some fast shit and then some slamming grooves... the progression will be towards getting sicker and sicker...
What kind of equipment do you use to record? How do you earn money to buy the stuff?
to record the demo, I used a shure sm58 mic hooked up to my computer to do the vocals. For guitars, I used a marshall cab with a peavey 5150 head and for the drums I used a boss dr770, hooked up straight into the computer. I would’ve recorded the shit sooner but it took me forever to save up the money to buy that marshall. Hah, I’m a part time prostitute. Business has been kinda slow lately though..... (JUST KIDDING) hah actually, I do construction and other odd jobs to make money (not very much at that...) but somehow im still poor..
What will you never do to sell some records?
lets see... ill never start playing pop bullshit or wear skimpy clothes and do a strip tease on stage. And youll never hear me say “buy a cd and ill show you my tits” I might beat a few people up though... just kidding
Any forced treatments to get people listening to your tunes?
hah, none yet but its still early...
