Hate Eternal - Fury & Flames

review exclusively done for AEA Zine

Hate Eternal is the band of Erik Rutan (vocals and guitars) and the good man is of course known as his stage participation in Morbid Angel and his work as a producer for many other bands. Not many people know that he also played in Ripping Corpse and that his new guitarist Shaune Kelley, also played in Ripping Corpse.
"Fury & Flames" is their up to date release on Metal Blade and the term fury is well chosen as the album blast the 40 minutes through your pants. His vocal style might be a bit monotonous his guitar work is precise, sharp and creative. Guided by a stampede drummer the brutality drills around like it makes no sense. But instead it does. On the first listening it sounds like a thick wall but when you listen closely you hear the layers with the massive double bass blast and the flying sticks and also the melody in the riffs with the more melodic leads.
So if you like it brutal with skill then go and get this one on your wanted list.
