Gory Blister formed in 1990 and after a year of practicing and rehearsing together they released their first demo 'Spoilt By Greed'. The six tracks on this release caused a huge stir in the Italian metal scene and the band found all of the metal press raving about their brilliant technical ability and original approach to metal. In 1993 the band released four new tracks on their 'Hanging Down The Sound' demo which contained stronger songs than those on their first demo. There were several line up changes for Joe (drums) and Raff (guitars) to deal with before they released a mini album entitled 'Cognitive Sinergy' in 1996. The metal press' reaction to this release was so good that in a short time the CD was sold out! After several shows across Italy the band became very well known in the Italian death metal scene. With Bruce Teah (bass) and Daniel (vocals) joining the band they became stronger than ever. Gory Blister then decided to record their first full length album entitled 'Art Bleeds'. This album turned out better than anyone could believe. The power and emotion mixed in with beautiful melodies was a masterstroke and 'Art Bleeds' became an instant underground classic death metal album. The rise of this exciting band has been almost unstopable. It is only a matter of time before they join the likes of Metallica as an internationally renowned band.
'Art Bleeds' was recorded over a month in March 1999 at Fear Studio in Italy. The engineering was undertaken by Paso, Mr Gabry and Bruce Teah (Gory Blister's bass player). Production came from from the band's Raff and Joe. One of the highlights of the album is undoubtedly the cover of Depeche Mode's 'Never Let Me Down'. 'Art Bleeds' has had a great reaction from the music press as well as their fans. Gory Blister did a great deal of promotion for this album. They toured Italy and supported several bands including Sinister and Death. It's a great album that is well worth checking out.
