When you search on the internet for the name of Elvira Madigan you will see that she was a Danish woman who had an affair with a Swedish army officer and he first shot Elvira and then himself. How romantic, isn't it? But also cruel. And let those two, romance and cruelity, be the ingredients for this album.
The man behind Elvira Madigan is Marcus H. Madigan and is doing all by himself and according the press info allm is real recorded with no computers. And when you start playing this concept album you think by yourself, is this a new Cradle Of Filth album? Man, does Marcus sound like Dani. Musically it is going for brutal blast to atmospheric passages. The guitars are good with nice leads although the keyboard is sometimes too hard and almost overruling the guitars. A bit symphonic, bombastic, accoustic, distorted you can hear it all. And he fact he didn't use computers the sound is not polished but that has its charme. With "Regent Sie" Markus has put out a disc that needed a huge effort from him and so you have to check it if you like your black metal with atmospheric elements.
