BRUTALISM

Progress is the fourth CD from this Polish band. As it's my first impression of Toxic Bonkers I'm jumping into the current chapter of an evolution that started with their debut If The Dead Could Talk. I picked up something brutal and monstrous about the band's fusion of hardcore, grindcore and death metal, as if Napalm Death and Vader formed a band together. I'm picturing what sort of a live performance would result from this merger, with the full lineup of both bands playing at once. I imagine it would sound somewhat akin to the unrelenting aggression of these ten tracks. Most appealing is their hearkening to the early 90s when grindcore generally leaned less toward humor and more toward opposing society.
