The Retaliation Process is a brand new extreme outfit hailing from Hamburg, Germany. They have released their debut CD entitled ‘Downfall’, which is quite an evidence showing the level of musical maturity the guys have.
Combining the extremity and groove of modern hardcore music, the pounding sound of Death Metal, the speed and structure of Trash and last but not least…the true Swedish-Euro sound of Metal (take In Flames for instance), this quintet stand a chance to do something quite remarkable basing on this musical alchemy result!
Downfall contains ten well developed songs filled with a handful of variety, technique and rhythmic structures performed through the good use of dual guitars. Those who are into swinging guitar harmonization may love this one. Occasional melodies and Acoustic parts are also present, and this guitar cocktail will definitely please some of those hungry ears around. On certain occasions light synth textures may be noticed (like on the track ‘On The Way Back’). Interestingly enough, like in related genres, the vocal style is that typical angry Hardcore/Growling voice, however occasional clean singing is also present. A feature that enhances at atmosphere found in bands like Type O Negative and perhaps Alice in Chains.
Nothing that much is known about this band, however in my personal opinion despite the excellent musical cohesion, I wouldn’t exclude the fact that musicians may have come from different musical backgrounds.
Hardcore-related music is not my main cup of tea, however I must admit that this band is really something I enjoy listening. The Retaliation Process is one of those bands who mastered the proper blends of extremity, structure and melody. To Follow!!
