Tanker is a five-piece outfit from Banja Luka, Republic of Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina, formed in 2008. Up till now, Sorrow Drives The Will is their only studio recording and if things are going to evolve in the manner they started with, this band will surely please a lot of European metal fans and not only. The style of music Tanker play is a bit surprising as you don't expect a Bosnian band to play Southern rock/groove metal in the veins of Crowbar, Pantera and Mastadon. And despite the fact that such comparisons seem to be a bit different, Tanker manage to incorporate elements of all these bands into one blend of kick-ass metal.

Although, Sorrow Drives The Will is labeled as an EP, it runs for 37 minutes and features six tracks, which is enough for a full length debut album. The production on this record is very good, as everything sounds in its own place and the overall feeling of the music is exactly what you would expect from this style of metal. What is really good is that although the band stays within the limits of the genre they have chosen, they still manage to make the music quite diverse and dynamic. There are slow groovy parts, great fast tempo riffs and even acoustic interludes that make things even more interesting. It's hard to distinct any instrument in particular, as Tanker sound like a solid band, not a bunch of musicians each looking for a way to show of his abilities. And that's very good!

I hope these guys don't stop doing what they do now and will manage to hit the European stage in the future, because they really deserve the spotlight. It's really nice to have a band like this that you can both listen and mosh to! So let's see what their future efforts will sound like, because their debut recording is an album to enjoy!
