BRUTALISM

After several full length albums, EP's and a Split release with Spanish Grinders Machetazo, Ribspreader is a rather known name among old school Death Metal lunatics. "Opus Ribcage" is the bands newest offering that consists of nothing else but… well, typical Swedish old school Death Metal free of any modern trends or approximations to other styles. Don't expect any surprises: this one's quite basic and pure to the core. A pleasant growling voice delivers prophecies of death and gore while the guitars and the drums shed primitive-effective parts without any extravagant nonsense. Inspired by Carnage, Nihilist and the whole rest of the early Swedish Death Metal scene, Ribspreader follows the path to spread deadly tunes and musical plagues. Even the Ramones cover of "Blithkrieg Bob" sounds like it was invented in Sweden during the early 90's. "Opus Ribcage" is a nice addition to the bands previous releases and will help to find new fans and supporters. For those of you who still don't know Ribspreader: These guys are old school as fuck! So if you like Paganizer, Death Breath, Mangled, Deification or Pulverizer you should check this release out. (review by Alex)
