interview with the band on 20-10-2004
Please give us a short introduction of yourself?
GIGI: Hail to all, my name is Gigi, 35 ? years old and i’m the bass/vocalist of Italian Death Metal band Mind Snare.
CHRIS: I play guitar, 31 years old and i’m the former member of the band, since 1989.
SERGIO: I’m the new drummer of the band, i joined Mind Snare in late March 2004 and after 2 weeks i played in Slowak and Czech, with just 4 rehearsals!!! I’m 31 years old, and i play drums since 16 years.
GIGI: He’s a pro-drummer!!!
SERGIO: Eh eh it’s not true...
GIGI: Yes, it’s fuckin’true!!!
SERGIO: Ok ok i studied pro drumming but i’m not a pro, i must work in a factory to live!!!
How do you feel to get an intie on this site finally?
GIGI: I feel alright because i know that you, Twan, got all our relases so it’s a fuckin’ honour to talk with you!!!
So how is it to struggle in the UG for all those years? Still have a drive or goal?
CHRIS: It was very hard and it’s still hard!!! To stay in the UG for so many years represent an honour for the band. It means that we are still alive and kicking. Yes, we still have a goal; to progress day by day, album by album. We know that we are italians and it’s a problem...
Do you make songs you wanna hear yourself, or songs that will be liked mostly by others?
SERGIO: The first. What do you think?! We like Death Metal so we play Death Metal. With this music i can’t make money enough to live from it (and i don’t care !!!) so i prefer to play what i feel.
What is your definition of UG metal and its scene?
GIGI: Honour and Glory!!!
Is there a vivid scene in your place or area?
GIGI: Mmmmhhhh.... Yes and No... In Italy we got good bands but we got lack of promotion too and so many rip-off clubs... We are close friends with most popular bands of our area but, as everywhere, there are bad and good people... We walk our path, we don’t give a fuck about the words that some assholes spit on us (on the back, because they are not able to do in our face, simply because we’ll beat ’em up!!!). We are Mind Snare, we were here since 1989, so we can piss on their graves!!!
Why are you switching labels so often?
GIGI: Well, maybe it looks like that but it’s not completely true... We were signed only 2 times in our career, 1st in 1999 by Psychic Scream (Malaysia) and 2nd, the current deal, by Forever Underground (Usa). The other times , during Terror From Hell (“Broken Promise” 7”), Raptures Asylum (“Visions” 7”) and Mutilated Records (Cd Collection 1989-2004) we didn’t sign a deal, just make the label doing the releases. We like to stay with a single label for full length cds, because i think that this is the format that make the difference between the bands, not a 7” or something like that... We are a very faithful band with our label!!! But i think that we arrived late (because so many suckers ripped us off...) to do our 1st cd, so we are old guys... And we want to release all what we can!!! Obviously a same label can’t do a full length cd, 7”, etc. in 1 year!!! But, i repeat, we are very faithful and we love to work with our label, Forever Underground.
Why not do everything on your own?
SERGIO: We got no money to do it all!!! We got normal jobs in a factory and life is fuckin’ expensive in Italy!!!
Do you notice disrespect towards the band? Do you take this personal?
CHRIS: Yeah there is much disrespect towards the bands & you bet i take this personal!!! I hate people that are not able to respect the others!!!
I heard you like to wear transparant thongs? Why is that?
GIGI: Ahahahahaha! It’s not true!!! I hate this fuckin’thongs!!! I wear only boots!!!
Does Mindsnare have a vision? What would you like to achieve?
GIGI: No, i got visions, i am a very moderate-alcohol-drinking-guy,ahahahaha. Well, i don’t wanna become rich by my music, i just want to leave a sign in the scene.
Is it still exiting to go on stage? What do you expect from a crowd?
GIGI: Gig after gig is more exciting... Twan, I’m an old man but i’m still excited like a child when it’s time to go on stage!!!
Do you play requests shouted from the audience?
GIGI: Of course!!! One time people started to sing “Porco Dio, Porco Dio!”: It’s an italian blasphemy against God and on our tracklist there was the perfect song for them, “Monarch of Prayers”!!! The most funny situation was in Slovakia, April 2004. When we were playing, one guy in the crowd (Ahoj Marcel!!!) ask our buddies from C.O.S. (the Italian band that played with us on tour) to say to them one italian word and they said to him “Mangia!” that means “Eat!”... So, this guy started to scream with an incredible growling “Mangia, Mangia, Mangia Death Metal, Mangia Metal” everytime we got a pause in the show... It was very funny to hear that from the stage!!!
Do you make contact after the show? And not only with nice girls?
GIGI: I love to talk with fans after the show, it’s so exciting to hear what they think about the band. Obviously only people that like the show come to us, the others got no balls to come and say: “Hey man, your band suck!!!”. Yeah Twan, we like to talk with all the fans, not only with nice girls... Maybe Sergio, our super-model-drummer prefers to talk with girls because he is single!!!
Describe the sexlife of an 18 year old italian girl who is single?
GIGI: I’m too old and married to answer, but i try... Well, classic 18 year old Italian girls love super-mega-mobile phones, dance in the disco, love guys with big and luxury cars and shit like that... In one word: Money!!! But i think it is the same shit worldwide...
How is sex woven in your songs?
GIGI: There’s no sex in our songs!!!

GIGI: Well, i wanna thank you so much for the cool interview!!! I wanna say to all our followers that in September our new 7” “Visions” will be out. It’s a split with Italian Worstenemy, in November we release our new full length CD, “From Blood to Dust” and in April 2005, “Undergroundemons”, a special cd collection about our 15th anniversary, 1989-2004.
