Germany's Lower Hell formed in 2008, followed quickly by their release of an EP. Two years later they signed on with Basterdized Recordings and got their debut full length out. Listeners should expect a lot of melodic riffs mixed with random song titles and snarled vocals. There's plenty of catchy hooks with each track and more than enough groove to keep attention. Some of the tracks are downright crushers that border more along the lines of metalcore such as "Warriors Of The Dead" that offer crunching riffs with some melody mixed in between. "The Beast" is one of the more extreme tracks because everything flows together with very little breathing room for the music. However, many of the guitar melodies hold the same qualities that a band like Amon Amarth would have mixed with Shadows Falls.   Then there's the more recognizable melodic death metal music such as "This Is Vengeance" and "Keep The Good Times Rollin" which take musical cuts from At The Gates and Carcass and stitch them together to create some metalcore fused death metal. The way the guitarists hammer away on their frets to create a sense of frantic extremity is pretty darn good.

Similar to labelmates, Fuck Your Shadow From Behind, Lower Hell takes Hellevator and tries to make things as extreme as possible. However, they have a bit more melody and precision in their work to create a sense of beauty rather than just raw intensity. This one's for fans of Winds Of Plague or In Flames (gone metalcore).
