BRUTALISM

Demonical started sometime in 2006 and released the “Bloodspell Divine” demo in the same year. In 2007 they offered their first full length release entitled “Servants Of The Unlight” and a Split 7” with Absu. “Hellsworn” saw the dark light of day in May 2009 and was unleashed by Cyclone Empire. Consisting (among others) of former members of the well known Swedish melodic Death Metal act Centinex, Demonical is much more than just a follow-up, because the music´s more raw and a bit more relentless. Unmistakably influenced by the early Swedish Death Metal movement, the band delivers an interesting album with the typical downtuned guitar sound, awesome riffs and pounding drums, while the dark-raspy vocals deal with the ever-popular stuff about death and blood. The production is a nice reminiscence of the glorious days back in the early 90´s. The band also added some melodic parts and harmonic solos to enhance the songs and to show their great musical skills. “Hellsworn” is a rough diamond of the underground and let´s hope Demonical will be around for many years. Check this fantastic release out if you´re into Dismember or maybe into Entombed´s early era. Well done! (review by Alex)
