Second new album for Daath and their modern death metal after the highly acclaimed “The Hinderers” of two years ago. Well, what to say about a band that is on everyone’s lips since the first steps? I’d start to say that this album will divide the extreme metal lovers. On one hand we are in front of an hybrid band that has nothing in common with the death metal acts from Us that have fed this kind of music during the last twenty years: Daath are simply too modern and catchy. At the same time they have only few points in common with the more modern European death metal school: the use of the melody is totally different and we can say the same about the arrangements too. So, at the end, for many extreme lovers, they should result simply too mainstream. But on the other hand… well on the other hand it’s impossible to be indifferent to the immense potentialities of these five guys from Atlanta. At the guitars we have two Musicians with the big “M”, virtuous at the point that someone’s hazarded a comparison with two illustrious strangers like Mustaine & Friedman; at the drums we find a monster of the extreme like Kevin Talley (ex Dying Fetus - Misery Index - Chimaira) with another incredible performance and a couple of words must go also to a really powerful and groovy bass and to the new singer and his amazing job. Repeat: maybe Daath are too modern and catchy for many of you but “The Concealers” should be a lesson of technique, fresh extreme arrangements and composition. (review by Jacopo)
