Greece is famous for its beautiful landscapes, the sunny weather and delicious food, but Cerebrum will kick all tourists asses. The band was founded back in 2004 and their first sign of life was a self titled demo one year later. “Spectral Extravagance” was unleashed upon mankind by Lacerated Enemy Records and convinces with almost 43 min. of well produced technical Death Metal, which is influenced by Pestilence, almighty Death and Atheist. The musicianship is simply excellent and all songs on this awesome debut album vary in structure and tempo to avoid getting boring. Despite the technical direction, each track unfolds its own feeling (even the short instrumental one “The Prologue Of Completion”) and independence. “Spectral Extravagance” is a very ambitious release with lots to discover and unpredictable components like the few clean vocal passages or the sometimes Jazzy guitar parts. It´s impossible to detect every single musical refinement with the first listening session, but once you entered Cerebrums realm, you´ll be gripped by their vision of great technical Death Metal. This extremely promising act should be warmly recommended to everyone who´s into the foresaid bands stuff and releases. This album has a strong tendency for more.
