The Italian band Bestial Devastation’s YOUR VAGINA IS SICK… is a solid gore band release that suffers from too much pomp and circumstance with lacks in the actual brutality department. I do find pleasure in the release as I have listened to it several times repeatedly (and I do mean repeatedly in the same setting). But one of the things that brutal death bands and gore metal bands have done over the years is release track titles with disgusting names with over the top physical implications. Bestial devastation has not done this here. Instead, they have released a CD full of diseases and descriptors of STDs in Latin. I get that Bestial is Italian and the thus might have more connection to the Latin language tradition than other bands. But the effect is to separate the listener from the actual gross factor of human physicality. Not bad sometimes but Bestial claims on its site that it wants to be THE new gore band. I think it drowns in the bloody pool of song titles.

But the track titles are only one of the elements in my analysis of said band. The lyrics are delivered in more of a hardcore style than in a guttural or death style and the growls that are there are rather generic. I have found that the heaviest bands, bands like Cutterred Flesh, Attack of rage, and a bunch of other bands that happen to be distributed on Grodhaisn Productions, have vox that are rougher with more slobber eeking between teeth and are basically just more teethy across the sound. Bestial Devastation has not released a wimpy album in YOUR VAGINA IS SICK…but it has released a CD that will be eaten by the very bands’ ranks it claims it wants to join. I can not see the future but I think the carcass of Bestial Devastation will be left by the side of the road to be scavenged by crows and all the other eerie necro eaters that we have not seen yet.
