Ahab: ‘The Giant’ Track Streaming

April 30, 2012 - 19:13

Once again I find myself at a computer with no speakers, unable to preview something I’m recommending you listen to. This time it’s a new track from the German funeral doom outfit Ahab titled The Giant, from the album of the same name. I’ve been all brambles in the panties to hear something, anything off this new album since I was taken back by the cover art and here it is but I’m still a few hours out from having my doubts confirmed or crushed under a mountainous wave of genius nautical doom.

That’s okay though.

I can wait.

All I ask is that you, friendly reader, have a listen and leave us your thoughts in the comments’ section. I want to hear how you liked, or didn’t, this new track as I’m sure our other readers who may be in a similar predicament as I do too.

New Video || Epica- Storm the Sorrow

April 24, 2012 - 19:18

I’ve officially sworn off the phrase “female-fronted”. I mean what does it matter? It’s trivial and, I realized today, a cheap ploy by those who write press releases to get our attention if only because the idea of a female-fronted metal band is “novelty”. No mas. Good bands are good, bad bands are not and what’s between the legs of the “front” or any member does not matter.

Epica is somewhere in between leaning more towards the good.

Here’s their new video for Storm the Sorrow off the latest record Requiem for the Indifferent

Kiss Comics

April 19, 2012 - 19:04

I know I’ve given Kiss a lot of shit on here in the past but I do it in the same way brothers would bust each others balls. I love Kiss. I’m looking forward to Monster and am one of a small subset of fans that actually believes it might be a good album. And yes, I’ll probably crack the seal of that bad boy and spin it while I prop my feet up on the desk and thumb through the first issue of Dressed to Kill.

New Video || Running Wild- Shadowmaker

April 18, 2012 - 19:46

It’s been about seven years since Running Wild released their last album. Six long years but now they are back with a new record, Shadowmaker, which they intend to unleash on the world in just two days.

And this, dear friends, is going to be a good one.

I had the chance to listen to a few songs off of it earlier this week, and then they released the following video for the title track this morning and I‘m pretty pleased. It could stand to have a little more speed, to be sure, that’s the main complaint I’ve heard from people about their last few, but Rolf’s been doing this thing since ‘76 (!). Like Saxon, they’ve achieved reached legendary status and they can slow it down if they want to, dammit.

Or, as the case may be, their physical abilities dictate…

Watch the video below, covet the box set they describe therein, and let us know what you think in the comments’ section.

Classic Video of the Day || Maniac Butcher- Co Dobré Pro Mne, Dobrým Jest

April 13, 2012 - 18:50

Wow! It's been a while since we've had one of these so I pulled an extra good one out of the vault. The above is Maniac Butcher's absolutly classic video for Co Dobré Pro Mne, Dobrým Jest. English translation: What is good for me, is good.

Have a great weekend, guys and gals!

New Video || Pantera- Piss

April 12, 2012 - 18:29

While combing through Pantera “vaults” for material for the 20th anniversary reissue of Vulgar Display of Power, Vinnie Paul Abbott ostensibly stumbled across a previously unreleased Pantera track, titled Piss, which made its debut last night at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards. Now according to Mr. Abbott this is the only complete unheard, unreleased Pantera track and was recorded during the Vulgar Display... sessions making it a pretty special piece of history.

So with the help of some dedicated fans out there who sent in footage of themselves rocking out and punching each other, a music video to memorialize Piss was made and can be viewed below.

April 11, 2012 - 20:09

For what I’m sure will only be a limited time, AOL is streaming, in its entirety, Jeff Loomis’ (ex-Nevermore) new solo album, Plains of Oblivion. Now, I’m presently at a computer with no speakers (archaic, I know) otherwise I’d take the plunge and let you guys know how it is but since I can’t why not head over there for yourself, give it a spin, then come on back and let us all know in the comments’ section?

Plains of Oblivion is available now on Century Media Records.
