It Is Finally Here....New Song From SLAYER!

We have been waiting patiently when we first heard that Slayer was back in the studio.  Today is the say we finally get to hear what they have been working on.  The song below is called "When The Stillness Comes".  

There isn't an official album title or release date as of this time.  Nuclear Blast Records have hinted we will see the new album in August of this year and will included 12 tracks.  This is the first album since Dave Lombard, the drummer left the band and the founding guitarist Jeff Hanneman passed away.  For the new album Gary Holt, guitarist from Exodus, and Paul Bostaph, drummer, will be filling in.

Kerry King, the guitarist for the band, commented on the meaning of the song:

It's about a dude who wakes up at a crime scene and realizes he's killed everybody.

Apocalyptica Streaming Their Entire New Album 'Shadowmaker'

Apocalyptica new album 'Shadowmaker' is getting close to its release date of April 21.  Until then you can listen to the whole album in its entirety on their official [YouTube channel].  The new album features the classic sound of cello heavy metal riffs.  You will find Franky Perez singing all vocals tracks on the album.

Cain's Offering Says "I Will Build You A Rome"

It has been a long, long time since anything has come from Cain's Offering.  The power metal band debuted in 2009 with the album 'Gather The Faithful', but nothing since then, until now.  They have released a brand new song entitled 'I Will Build You A Rome' and you can listen the new song below.  

This song will be included on their upcoming album called 'Stormcrow', which is set to release on May 19, 2015 by Frontiers Music Srl.

Earn A College Degree in Heavy Metal

It's time to go to college and earn a degree in Heavy Metal! Maybe not a degree but you can now take a course in heavy metal. The course is available at the University of Helsinki and will cover the history of heavy metal music and its effect on the western society.

Go ahead and [apply to take the course], enrollment starts on August 4, 2015.

The course will be taught by PhD Paolo Ribaldini, which is a heavy metal musician himself. He wasdone a lot of his research at the University of Helsinki focusing on sociological, semiotic and philosophical aspects of heavy metal development.

Ribaldini states that his class will be about listening to a lot of good heavy metal music and attending local heavy metal events.

It's About Time, New Music From Demonical

It feels like ages since we have heard something from Demonical. Today is the day we get to hear a new song from the band.  The song below is called "Cursed Liberation" and is one of the tracks from an EP that band is releasing called 'Black Flesh Redemption'.  The EP will be in stores on May 5, 2015 by Agonia Records.

Behemoth Release New Video "Messe Noire"

Behemoth release their latest album 'The Satanist' last year in February.  This week they have released a brand new video from that album for the track "Messe Noire".  The album made it to 34 on US Billboard 200 and number 1 on Polish Albums.

The director of the music video Zev Deans explains his vision:

The story of Lucifer's fall, followed by his defiant rebirth, reminds me of Nergal's own personal struggles of recent years. Like Lucifer, Behemoth has recovered from hardship, and they are stronger than ever. With 'Messe Noire', I was lucky enough to work with some of the most talented people in the genre. Between The Buried and Me Release Brand New Track

It has been awhile since we heard anything new from Between The Buried and Me, but today we get a taste of what they are working on.  Below you can hear their new single "Memory Palace".  Make sure you have 10 minutes free to listen to the whole song.

This song will be on their upcoming album 'Coma Ecliptic", which is set to release on July 10, 2015 by Metal Blade Records.  This will be the follow up to 'Parallax II: Future Sequence" that was released back in 2012.

Septicflesh Releases New Video "Prometheus"

Septicflesh has released a brand new video entitled "Prometheus".  This song comes from their 2014 release 'Titan', which was one of our top albums of 2014.

You can see Septicflesh live in North America with Moonspell and Deathstar beginning this summer on the Conquerors of World III Tour.  The tour kicks off in Mexico City on April 25th.

Megadeth Starts New Album with New Drummer

It has been awhile since we last heard about Megadeth's guitar Chris Broderick and drummer Shawn Drover left the band.  The good news is that they have started to work on a new album.  Dave Mustaine from Megadeth tweeted that they are "almost done with the writing of the new record". This will be a follow up from their 2013 release 'Super Collider'.

The biggest news is that they have official announced that Chris Adler from Lamb of God will be their new drummer and will lay down the new tracks.

The End Of Immortal...

The legendary black metal band Immortal will be no more after today.  The founder Abbath has released the following statement that explains that the current band Immortal will be put to rest and he will continue on as himself.  He has not released his new band name at this time, but as commented that he has new material already in the works.

Immortal's frontman and founding member has been writing and rehearsing fervently, with a deluge of new material ready to be recorded; unable to come to an agreement in order move forward with the other members of the band, he has formed a new line up. Whilst grateful and respectful for the contributions of Demonaz, Horgh and Apollyon, the time is now right for Abbath to present his art to the world and continue to evolve the legacy.

Kataklysm Releases New Album Art and Tracklist

Kataklysm gave us a little bit of news a couple of weeks ago about a new album in the works.  Today they have released the album art and track listing to the upcoming album 'Of Ghosts and Gods'.  The new album will be released on July 31st by Nuclear Blast Records.  

The band had this to say about the new album art:

The new Kataklysm cover art echoes a sinister artwork depicting the reality of humanity's beautifully disturbing existence and its impending death through the Mortal and the Everlasting, the background shows an ancient Incantation written in Aramaic.

DevilDriver Reveals New Guitarist and Drummer

At the end of last year DevilDriver hit a dead end as two of their original members John Boecklin, the drummer, and Jeff Kendrick, the guitarist, left band.  Today they have announced that Neal Tiemann is joing them as their new guitarist.  Also drummer Austin D'Amound of Chimaira has also agreed to join the band.  

Dez Fafara, the vocalist has also revealed that the band is current writing new material.  This will be a follow up to their previous album 'Winter Kills' which was released back in 2013.

Amon Amarth's Drummer Quiets the Band

Amon Amarth has had very little lineup changes in their 23 year career.  But today Fredrik Andersson, their drummer, have parted ways with the band. He has been their drummer for the last 17 years and has been apart of great albums like 'With Oden on Our Side', Twilight of the Thunder God', and Surtur Rising'.  The band is currently writing new material and planning a future release this year.

The band released this statement:

Fredrik has been an important part of Amon Amarth's development since he joined the band in 1998 and we wish him all the best for the future. We are currently in the process of writing the new album, but at the moment there is no replacement for him.

Skeletonwitch Working On New Album

Skeletonwitch has announced that they have starting working on a new album.  They have begun writing material and will release the new album later this year.  This will be a follow up to their last album 'Serpents Unleash' which released in 2013.

Right now the thrash metallers are on their European tour until the end of April.

Scott Hedrick, the guitarist for the band, commented about their plans:

After we return from melting faces in Europe, our entire focus will be on writing a new album. We have a mountain of riffs and ideas that will be carved into epic tunes. Excited to get started!

Twisted Sister Drummer A.J. Pero Passes Away

Some sad news today as A.J. Pero has passed away at the age of 55.

A.J. Pero was Twisted Sisters' drummer from 1982 - 1986, 1997 - 1998, and 2003 to current.  During his time with Twisted Sister he was part of some classic albums like 'Under the Blade', 'You Can't Stop Rock 'n' Roll', 'Stay Hungry', 'Come Out and Play'.

He also played in the band Adrenaline Mob that was labeled "heavy metal supergroup".  In the band included Russel Allen from Symphony X and Mike Orlando from Dream Theater. He joined the band back in 2013.

The members of TWISTED SISTER are profoundly saddened to announce the untimely passing of our brother, A.J. Pero.

The band, crew and most importantly the family of A.J. Pero thank you for your thoughts and prayers at this time.

To commemorate this fine day, I figured I’d slap together a list of some great Irish heavy metal bands I know to populate your playlists with today. Please keep in mind this list is “off the dome” so-to-speak and I probably missed and/or am ignorant of something really good out there.
