37 Stabwoundz - A Heart Gone Black review by Mykke of DoomRadio.net exclusively for BRUTALISM.com Self-described as loud-music -- I don't know what this means exactly -- some kind of fusion of hardcore metal and punk rock I guess. Well 37 Stabwoundz are that, and their second full-length release "A Heart Gone Black" contains elements of 90's grunge metal as well as the aforestated influences. Several tunes have vocal harmonies akin to Alice In Chains on tunes "Secrete the shatters," "Praise Turns To Revolt," and "Killing The Drama" for example. Playing live with bands with different sounds like sludge band Crowbar and metalcore bands like Dillinger Escape Plan has been a positive influence for 37 Stabwoundz, and at times they sound a bit like Agnostic Front or 100 Demons, bands that cross-over between punk and metal successfully -- but hey, the bottomline is whatever they're doing, however you want to classify them, it works. The end result is success. They have interesting song arrangements with great riffs at varying tempos and as I already mentioned great vocal harmonies. They have a very tight rhythm section and the production is all there as well. 37 Stabwoundz serve@37stabwoundz.com http://www.37stabwoundz.com GSR Music info@www.gsrmusic.com http://www.gsrmusic.com |
